I came here very "unwilling" but as an adult I agreed coming to Nova just to fake it and get back out on the streets.. This place not only saved my life but helped me find who I am as a person. The therapy work not only helped around my addiction but around my impulsive tendencies, the abusive relationships I would seek for many years in and out of my addiction and my family trauma. The counselors did a fantastic job. I loved all the CBT work as well as other therapeutic work. I'm someone who refuses to get emotional or vulnerable around others, period. I hated the world and everyone in it but wow. I finally took a chance but I almost had nothing else to lose. ALMOST. I have my son. A lot of people come in thinking "wow, is this a cult?" "they are just trying to brainwash me and my family!" Nope. the choice is actually all yours. No one is forced to stay but you have to REALLY WANT to get help or else your just there counting down your days. This wasn't my first rehab, second. Nova took the cake. I'm about to hit my 7 months sober and before two years ago, I was about 5 Years clean but I was dry in recovery. I've been in recovery in and out for 13 years give or take. I've NEVER felt more clean and level headed and genuinely happy in my life. I went into Nova just wanting life to remain numbed out and live my life in a sad and suffering way and came out truly wanting a better life. I didn't want to die anymore. I didn't want to just give up anymore. The counselors, RA's (recovery advocates) and the RS's (recovery specialists) were beyond life changing. In my time there I didn't just feel like another number. The one on one sit down therapy was so opening as well. I miss Nova everyday! I can't say that enough. Being there opened my eyes and heart to so much. I hope that I'm able to come back and help others the way Nova staff helped/saved me! In the end I learned you really have to want it more than anything and because of Nova and my genuine willingness to change I gained my life back and my son. Today I live with my 8 year old son again. I wasn't willing at first but I came around, for my life and my son's life. I took an extension by choice. so I was there for a total of 3 months. I tried taking another extension because the thought of leaving Nova scared the hell out of me. I mean how often does a person really get to leave society to re-center and take a break to find themselves and better their health, body, mind and soul? its all about perception honestly. 12/1/23, I decided to go to sober living for 3 months and it made the transitioning and culture shock so much easier. So THANK YOU so much Nova! I love everyone so much and I'll never forget telling myself and all the amazing women there I wasn't going to cry but WOW.. I really did. I fell into tears. Saying goodbye to the amazing women I grew so close to and to the incredible staff. You all are apart of my amazing story and journey! my sobriety date is 9/28/23 ella coleman2024-02-07Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The staff here is EXCELLENT, they really put effort in understand your situation and helping you to the best of their ability. I have learned so much about my addiction and myself in my time at NOVA, thanks to the wonderful staff. From the kitchen to the recover specialist to the counselors, everyone here is fantastic. Crissa Fisher2023-12-30Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. As someone who refused help for at least a decade and was forced to go to treatment because I had no other options, I don’t think I can say enough good things about my experience at Nova. Nova was suggested to my mom by a friend and she tried talking to me about it several times. The part that stayed with me was that it was out in such a beautiful part of Texas and that it’d be easy to connect with nature out there. I agreed to 30 days and ended up staying for the full 90 days, without hesitation. I realized how much help I really needed and how much I had to learn about myself and the disease of alcoholism. Every preconceived judgment I had about how treatment would be was wrong. I feared I would either feel like a burden or a charity case and I felt like neither. How much the staff cares about helping others in addiction comes through in everything they do. From one on one sessions, to classes that teach the how and why of addiction, to taking personal time to help individuals or the community move through difficult situations—they really live out the principles of recovery. I developed a lot of respect and admiration for what they do and how they do it and it helped me become willing to listen and take the suggestions that were given to me to move forward in life. I am so grateful for my time here and would recommend it to anyone who wants to live free from addiction. 💛 Jake Lange2023-12-28Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. If you are serious about getting sober and are willing to go through the work, this is the ideal place to facilitate your recovery. But throughout the 45 days i was there i actually learned to love myself, got the tools to improve my spiritual wellbeing, and the desire to live a happy sober existence ! They honestly saved my life :3 Matt Abigail2023-12-16Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I staggered into NOVA RC in November 2018 with end-stage liver disease, jaundice, varisces, ascites, nerve damage, and a cynical, pessimistic outlook on life. I did not believe that I would be alive in a year or two, but I couldnt stop drinking on my own, and I wanted to try and buy some time. I ended up having a life-changing experience there. It was a high structure, high accountability environment, with a good balance of clinical and spiritual curriculum. The staff were patient and persistent enough to push me to work through some painful memories and uncomfortable truths. I found something there that had eluded me for thirty years: a meaningful life. I left 5 years ago and haven't had a drink since. Luke Moore2023-12-15Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. As a person who had a history of leaving treatment Against Medical Advice, this is the only place I put in a notice to leave but chose to stay. I was able to act a fool and then be held accountable in a loving manner. I could write a book about everything I was taught at Nova during my 90 day stay. The staff are professional and genuinely committed to the well-being of each individual client.
